One week ago tomorow I came to this place and commenced work for a Mr Blair to whom I have hired for one year for which I am to receive $200 which is called here very liberal wages. I am very much pleased with the place think him a fine man and a very good family to live with. The vilage have things very much to my likeing a room and a bed by myself with other conveinances. they allso live upon the top Shelf which is not very disagreable to one of my epicural temperament. Mr Blair is now at work making 1000 Kansas butter knifes for Father. I am very glad to hear that Father has done so well by you all at home & allso to hear that he has bought Sams place. The Browns here live about 5 miles from here they are a very clever people not so sharp however as the portion of the Brown family with which we have been more acquainted. I find a great many Cousins about this town and other friends just as good owing to the reputation of the family in Kansas which serves
